Republicans at the Du Quoin State Fair

Lance Trover, spokesman for the Republican Party, said the event was better attended than it has been the past few years. For being a non-presidential election year, the turnout was higher than expected, he said.

“I would expect with the debacle in Springfield, you’ll see a lot more Republicans out,” he said. “I think there’s just a breakdown in the system and voters are seeing that.”

Trover said voters and taxpayers will begin to see the costs they face with political leaders pushing personal agendas. He said Blagojevich is incapable of leading the state, House Speaker Mike Madigan is playing off Blagojevich’s inability to lead and Senate Speaker Emil Jones is too busy with nepotism to pay attention.
